What W3C Icons MeanIt's All About Quality

Those icons shown on the bottom left of every page on this site confirm I'm a great website designer... OK not really but they show I know what I'm doing.

Clicking on the icons shows that this site meets Web standards defined by the W3 Consortium. The point of them is to ensure websites work properly for everyone that sees them.

You probably want a website that looks good, has certain features and saves or makes you money. You're not too bothered about Web standards. But meeting Web standards will help get people to your website, as it improves your search engine ranking and the speed the website loads at (on average, people won't wait more than 8 seconds before clicking the back button). The benefits of using web standards are immense, among them;

  • Increased accessibility
  • Lower operating costs
  • Improved load times
  • Increased search engine visibility

The icons also display a level of professionalism. So if you find other website designers who don't have the icons. Ask yourself (or ask them) why they don't.
